My Immortal - Part 1

Pomfret tasted the best that evening, she thought to herself. Jenna (her cousin) & Ishika her best friend, they were there too. He, her mom, and Jenna. It was one of the best dinners she could have asked for. Unarguably stupid soaps on T.V., lame jokes by Jenna, his content smile, Ishika's typical laugh and her mom's gossip.  Meera was the happiest that evening and she didn't even know why.

There was nothing special that evening. The same people she would see each day and still, she was content & happy. She was smiling through & through. She lived every moment of it.

After a while, Meera started to clear up the dinner table. Ishika left for home and Jenna decided to stay back at her aunt's that night.

It was 12:30, mid-night. His body was struggling for the longest on his bed; rather bedding that was spread across the floor. He never slept on a mattress as such. Meera noticed his restlessness. She informed her mom.
Meera's mom walked up to him & sat beside him, rubbing his rather cold hands. It was winters setting in may be. He was in pain, holding on to his stomach, he signaled to Meera's mom to give him a head massage. She smiling agreed. A few words, her soft hands running through his hair and he began to fall asleep, at least that's what Meera and her mom assumed.

They spent good time together that night.

It was 2:00 now. Meera was in the drawing room, half interested in the movie that Jenna was rather enjoying. Her mom was half asleep on the chair. All of a sudden, she heard foot-steps. He was trying to be secretive. She knew how his every move felt.

Just then the door-bell rang. It was Neo, Meera's older brother. He didn't say much either. He was tired and too much in sleep. He smiled at them and walked to his room.

10 minutes had passed. Meera walked up to the kitchen for a glass of water. She signaled Jenna to get to bed and got her mom to get to her bed. Just when she was about to switch the lights off, her eyes dragged her to notice something unusual near the garbage bin. It wasn't all that unusual after all.

Meera ran to her mom and woke her up with a startle. Meera, a bit scared now whispered something in her mom's ears and escorted her to the bin. They somehow composed themselves and walked to their respective beds. Just then Meera noticed something lying by his side. She knew it. She denied it. She fell asleep.
